EURO ESTHETIC, with its team of over 10 years of experience, provides services in all categories of hair treatments in a hospital environment.
FUE and DHI techniques are the most successful and latest techniques used today. Which hair transplantation technique is better may vary depending on the individual’s hair condition, expectations, and the preferences of the hair transplantation specialist.
A very successful, natural look is achieved with both techniques. We would like to state that the results that are not as desired are not related to the techniques but to the experiences of the people who apply them.
We successfully apply both techniques and proudly stand behind our work.
The most suitable age for hair transplantation can vary depending on a number of factors, including the individual’s general health, hair loss status, genetic factors, and suitability for surgery. In general, there is no specific “best age” for hair transplantation, as this varies depending on personal and individual characteristics.
Here is an overview of hair transplantation:
Adulthood: Hair transplantation is usually considered during an individual’s adulthood, at a point when hair loss has generally stabilized. This usually begins at age 25.
Shedding Status: Hair transplant candidates usually consider this procedure when they are experiencing hair loss. However, certain types of hair loss problems that begin at a young age may be more suitable for medical treatments rather than surgical solutions.
General Health Status: Hair transplantation is a surgical procedure, so general health status is important. In order to be a suitable candidate for hair transplantation, the individual’s general health status and suitability for surgical intervention should be evaluated.
Gender: Genetic hair loss, usually called androgenetic alopecia, is more common in men. For this reason, men usually start considering hair transplantation at a younger age. In women, hair loss is usually more diffuse and usually begins at a later age.
Individual Preferences: Hair transplantation is a matter of personal preference. The individual’s aesthetic expectations, hairline design and hairstyle preferences should be taken into account.
Each individual’s situation is different, so it is important to be evaluated individually when considering hair transplantation.
The items you will pay attention to and the procedures to be performed before the hair transplantation application to be performed on you are listed below. It is very important to comply with these. In this way, both the transplanted roots will be able to hold on healthily and the area where the roots are collected will be able to heal quickly.
PROHIBITS
CIGARETTE
Do not smoke starting 2 days before the procedure. Smoking negatively affects blood circulation and wound healing.
ALCOHOL
Do not drink alcohol starting 3 days before the procedure.
ASPIRIN
Aspirin and other blood thinners should not be used starting 5 days before.
ANTI-INFLAMMATORY DRUGS
Anti-inflammatory drugs such as ibuprofen, which are classified as strong painkillers (you can consult us for the list of drugs), should be stopped 3 days before. Painkillers containing paracetamol can be used.
MINOXIL
The use of minoxidil-containing solutions used to prevent hair loss should be stopped 3 days before.
VITAMINS AND SUPPLEMENTARY DRUGS
Taking vitamins B and E should be stopped 1 week in advance as they may increase bleeding.
It is also important not to take multivitamin drugs containing these vitamins. In addition, taking drugs containing ginseng, ginko biloba and garlic extracts should be stopped 1 week in advance.
SPICY FOODS
Do not eat too much spicy food starting 2 days before the procedure.
CAFFEINE INTAKE
Do not consume too much tea, coffee and cola on the day of the procedure. Especially do not drink coffee on the day of the procedure.
HERBAL TEA
Taking herbal teas with unknown content, especially those in the form of mixtures, should be stopped 1 week in advance. Some herbs have a blood thinning effect.
SUNBATHING
Take care not to expose your head to the sun, especially in the summer months, starting about 2 weeks in advance. It is very important that your head is not tanned and does not get sunburned.
SHAVING
Your hair will be shortened before the operation in our clinic.
WASHING YOUR HAIR
You should wash your hair with a shower that you will take in the morning before the procedure.
PHOTOGRAPHS
We will take photos of you from various angles in our clinic before the operation.
TESTS
Your blood values before the operation will be tested by analyzing the blood taken to see if they pose any obstacles for the procedure to be performed.
Your blood will be taken in our clinic and sent to the laboratory. The tests to be performed on you will be a complete blood count, bleeding and clotting tests, routine biochemistry tests, hepatitis and HIV marker tests.
REGULARLY USED MEDICATIONS
If you are taking any medications regularly due to any illness (such as hypertension, thyroid, cholesterol, diabetes), continue using them. However, you must definitely inform your doctor about these medications in advance.
PRODUCTS THAT NEED TO BE USED SPECIFICALLY
There are no products that you should use specifically before the procedure. The necessary medications that need to be started before the procedure will be given to you at the clinic.
BREAKFAST
You can have breakfast before the procedure, you do not need to come on an empty stomach. You will be given a break during work to have lunch.
CLOTHES
Since the procedure takes a long time, it would be appropriate to choose comfortable clothes. In addition, it will be easier to choose clothes that button in the front rather than clothes such as t-shirts that need to be worn with your head down. If this is not possible, you can wear a very wide-collared t-shirt. Wearing sweatpants may be better for your comfort. It would also be good to bring a spare pair of bottoms and tops with you.
TRANSPORTATION
We do not recommend that you drive after the procedure due to some medications that will be given to you during the operation and long periods of lying down. It would be appropriate to take your precautions accordingly.
REST
There is no need for a definite bed rest after hair transplantation. You should not plan any activity immediately after hair transplantation and spend that day and night resting. Your days after transplantation will be comfortable.
Also, not going to work for a week or so, even if there is no need for it, can prevent you from feeling comfortable and facing a lot of questions.
FUE hair transplantation does not leave visible scars if performed by a specialist doctor and team. The point we specifically emphasize here is that it does not leave “visible” scars.
Since hair transplantation is a surgical procedure, scars can be seen in the donor area at a minimal level and when lifted and examined closely.
The more heads over 1 mm are used on the devices at the end of the punch pen during your procedure, the greater the millimetric diameter of the damage on your skin.
For example, if you work with completely 1 mm devices, there will be hundreds of 1 mm minimal scars on your scalp, which will not be noticeable unless your hair is cut very short.
When you do research on the internet, you may come across sentences that do not have a scientific basis, such as the pen technique allowing for a much denser transplant than other techniques.
Before the pen technique was applied, the FUE technique allowed for dense transplants.
Dense transplantation of hair depends on many factors, such as the patient’s donor area being sufficient and the team doing their job meticulously using their experience.
There is no evidence in the scientific literature yet that the pen technique allows for a denser transplant than other techniques.
The biggest advantage of the pen technique is that the recovery period is relatively short.
The most authoritative supreme board in the world for hair transplantation, ISHRS, lists two hair transplantation techniques. One of them is FUE, the other is FUT.
Canal, Implanter Pen, Neograft or robotic surgery are all tools or techniques. All methods called Ice FUE, DHI or gold FUE are actually FUE techniques.
If there is no driver who drives the vehicle well, the journey will eventually end in an accident. Instead of focusing on vehicles, it is important to choose the right hair transplantation center. The knowledge of the specialist who will perform the hair transplantation and the experience of his team are much more important than the technique you choose.
In a good center, successful results will be obtained no matter which FUE technique is applied for hair transplantation.
As Back to Hair, we successfully apply both canal and Implanter Pen techniques in our hair transplantation center in Istanbul, depending on the need and the suitability of the person.
The tips of the CHOI pens that allow the roots to be placed in the DHI technique are expensive and more than one needle tip is used in an operation. More than 10 needles can be used in operations that require high graft transplantation. Since these are not used again after each transplantation, the cost increases considerably.
On the other hand, more personnel are required to operate in the DHI technique method compared to the channel-FUE method.
Immediately after the transplant, it will be noticed that the first transplanted hair grows within 15 days.
This situation continues for a while and the transplanted hair falls out after 2-3 months. This process is called shock loss.
After the loss, it starts to grow again in the 4th month and these are now permanent hair. Your hair will take the desired shape after 1 year.
This process is the same for beard, moustache, eyebrow, wound, burn and stitch scar transplants.
Hair dye should not be used for the first 6 months after transplantation. You can use hair dye after 6 months.
Your new hair is your natural hair and has the same characteristics. Therefore, you can comb, cut, grow or dye your hair as you wish. However, pay attention to the following:
You can comb the hair that starts to grow within 3-4 months.
You should not shave the new hair with a machine for 6 months. Your new hair can be shortened using scissors after 3 months. The area where the hair is taken from, the nape (donor area), can be easily shaved after 2 months.
Hair dye should not be applied for the first 6 months after the transplant. You can use hair dye after 6 months.
Hair transplantation is an extremely safe procedure when performed in reliable centers with the support of an expert team. On the other hand, there are rules that must be followed to ensure complete safety in hair transplantation:
1- The Ministry of Health has permitted hair transplantation only in licensed establishments with hospital and polyclinic (clinic) status.
Hospitals and polyclinics where the procedure is performed must comply with surgical sterilization conditions and are inspected.
Therefore, if you have your procedure performed in a place called underground for various reasons, there are risks you may encounter in terms of health, cost and procedure efficiency.
2- Hair transplantation should not be performed on people whose hair loss pattern is not clearly visible. People who do not know how much of their hair will fall out in the future and what pattern it will follow while shedding, and these people are usually hair transplant candidates under the age of 25, may have to have hair transplants again in the future.
In addition, since these people will continue to lose their hair after their hair is transplanted, they may encounter a negative situation in terms of aesthetics.
3- If areas other than your nape area are used as donor areas for hair transplantation, the possibility of hair loss increases in the future. Therefore, hair transplantation should be performed using hair from the nape area.
4- Although scars may form in the FUE technique, these scars are quite difficult to notice because they consist of hundreds of miniature scars. However, they can be noticed when the hair is separated by hand and looked at closely.
5- If hair follicles are collected and transplanted from areas of the head other than this area (e.g. chin and chest) instead of the area on the nape where they are genetically programmed not to fall out, the transplanted hair may fall out completely.
If hair transplantation is performed in reliable centers, it does not show any serious side effects since it is an aesthetic operation performed under local anesthesia.
Bruising, sensitivity, redness and temperature increase in the area where hair transplantation is performed or hair is collected, small crusts in the areas where hair is taken or transplanted, and numbness are temporary side effects that may be observed after the procedure.
Among the serious risks of the operation is shock loss, which is seen in only a small portion of patients.
The hair lost with shock loss is replaced after a while. Another important risk is that the person does not get the desired aesthetic result after the transplant. For this, very good planning should be done in advance.
Hair transplantation gives very good results when performed on a suitable candidate. Some people may not be suitable for hair transplantation, and even if the procedure is performed on these people, the success or, more accurately, the satisfaction rate will be low.
In this case, if hair transplantation is still insisted on, expectations should not be high and the individuals should also bear the responsibility of the result.
We should state here that, as per our principles, we do not perform hair transplantation on unsuitable candidates – even if they insist.
If unsuitable candidates insist on hair transplantation or if the clinic or hospital performing the procedure acts with financial concerns, you may wish you had never had hair transplantation. The result you see when you look in the mirror may make you miss your old self.
Hair transplantation can be performed on you if you meet the following criteria:
1- Your hair loss level is 2 or higher on the Norwood-Hamilton Scale
2- The hair loss process is complete or has come to an end and no success has been achieved despite trying other formulas during hair loss
3- There is enough hair in your donor area for the areas that need transplantation: The higher the hair density in the donor area, the higher the density in the transplanted areas will be.
Apart from these 3 items, people who have lost hair as a result of a trauma or burn or various surgical procedures can have hair transplantation.
Candidates who meet these criteria are generally considered suitable candidates. Whether or not you meet these criteria can only be decided after your hair transplant specialist has made the necessary examinations.
Hair transplantation gives better results in some people:
Hair style criteria
If your hair is wavy or curly, it covers more area and prevents your scalp from looking sparse. For example, black people’s hair usually looks denser because it has these characteristics.
One reason for curly hair is that black people live in hot climates and their scalps protect themselves during the evolutionary adaptation process.
Thickness of the hair strand
One of the most important factors that determine the appearance of hair loss is the thickness of the hair strand. The thickness of the hair strand also greatly affects the result of hair transplantation.
Even though the same number of hair follicles are transplanted in people with thick hair, much more satisfactory results are obtained compared to those with thin hair.
Because thick hair absorbs more light reflected from the scalp, i.e. reduces it, the appearance of “baldness” is less noticeable. In thin hair, this is the opposite.
Since the light reflected from the scalp can reach the person in front of you more easily, the appearance of “baldness” is more noticeable even if there is the same number of hairs.
Scalp elasticity criterion
In general, the chance of success in transplantation increases since hair is transplanted more easily to the follicles of those with flexible scalps.
In addition, people who exercise, maintain their ideal weight, have low stress levels and healthy eating habits generally have better immune systems, so their recovery time is shorter and the risk of infection is lower.
Hair transplantation is the most radical method to help people with hair loss problems solve these problems. However, not everyone can have hair transplantation. The answer to the question of who cannot have hair transplantation is as important as the question of who can have hair transplantation.
Those with Health Problems: Health problems may prevent hair transplantation. Hair transplantation is not recommended for those with health problems such as bleeding disorders, heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes, cancer, active infection. Such health problems may increase the risk of complications during hair transplantation and as a result, may worsen the health problem.
Those with Hormonal Problems: Hormonal disorders are among the people who are not suitable for hair transplantation. Hormonal problems can cause hair follicles to fall out, and even if hair transplantation is performed, it may be difficult for new hair to take root.
Pregnancy and Breastfeeding Period: Hair transplantation is not recommended for women during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Hormonal changes can prevent hair follicles from taking root.
10 days after the hair transplantation procedure, all the scabs fall off and a clean appearance is formed.
Regular hair washing is done for 10 days to shed the scabs. These washings are quite easy. How to wash is shown and explained in our hospital. The first wash is done in our hospital.
